The Bike Project
Research through design: finding the boundaries of desktop 3D-printing
Together with a fellow Industrial Design student, I initiated “The Bike Project”, to create a DIY bicycle that can be customised and build by everyone with access to a desktop 3D printer.
We got the opportunity to work for one month at Rockstart, a startup accelerator in Amsterdam, to do research in the market feasibility of the concept, with help of startup and business experts.
The 3D-model is build parametrically. When inserting body measurements, the geometry of the bicycle changes.
The second version of the bicycle got exhibited at the Design Museum Gent, the Brussels Embassy and the RapidPro industry fair.
